Serra de Rivera, born in Barcelona in 1946, is considered one of the great masters of contemporary figurative painting in Spain. He emerged in the 1970s as a key member of the “Generation of the 60s,” a movement that played a fundamental role in the renewal of figurative art during the height of Informalism. Serra de Rivera has become a reference for many Catalan painters, and his work is present in important art collections.
For the artist, photography as a model is insufficient. He proposes that painting should reflect the reality observed, captured and trapped directly by the person who paints. There is nothing like natural painting to capture life beyond reality.
