Walking down Carrer de l’Argenteria in Barcelona, a colorful wall catches your eye. It’s not graffiti, nor a shop window; it’s the headquarters of the Workers’ Commissions of Catalonia (CCOO), which features a new mural created by American artist Philip Stanton. In honor of the first of May, Workers’ Day, the union is unveiling this major work showing workers’ struggles. “The idea was to represent work itself, and the relationship that CCOO has with society,” explains the painter.

“They wanted something beautiful, attractive, that would help them connect with the street…”

This mural is also intended for all those who walk through the center of Barcelona and are drawn to it. “They wanted something beautiful, attractive, that would help them connect with the street, and also create a new space within the building for consultations and activities.” A wall that will now serve as a photo booth, a piece of art, and decoration for the building’s lower floor.
